Someone in the UK created a 'Muslim polygamy matchmaking' website - SecondWife - to help married Muslim men find another wife.
According to The Daily Mail, it already has 100,000 users globally, of which more than 25,000 are based in the UK.
In recent days, campaigners have been demanding the website to shut down for treating women like they are 'ornaments' to be collected.
'The popularity of this site worries me deeply. This site should be outlawed for UK use and follow the law in the UK which does not allow this,' said Jess Phillips, a member of the Women and Equalities Committee, according to The Times London.
'Women are not a commodity, they are not domestic slaves. People cannot be collected like ornaments,' Phillips added.
In the UK, polygamy is illegal. Violators of the law can face a prison sentence of up to 7 years.
However, such marriages are only recognized if they take place in countries where it's considered legal, which is the case in most Arab countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan ... to name just a few.
The founder of the site Azad Chaiwala established it in 2014 in response to a personal 'need'.
Chaiwala - who is from Sunderland, a city in North East England - added that these marriages are 'more honorable' in comparison with affairs and prostitution.
'We’ve got so many successful marriages and so many women signed up themselves… they are opting to enter this kind of relationship,' he said, according to the BBC.
The 34-year-old founder also claimed that polygamy helped build 'bigger and better families.'
However, women do not agree.
Shaista Gohir, of the Muslim Women’s Network, said polygamous marriages usually take place without the wife's consent.
'What is very concerning is that there will be men exploiting vulnerable women through polygamy. I have heard of situations where men marry women, have sex with them, and move on to the next woman,' Gohir said.
